Colossal Quakes
The residents of Colossae had a healthy understanding of the need for solid foundations. Their city got rocked by an earthquake around 60 A.D. Shortly thereafter, Paul wrote a letter reminding them of the importance of a solid foundation. Paul wanted to see the firmness of their faith in Christ. Could their faith stand the test of quakes and shifting faults beneath the surface?
We, too, must devote time to our foundation in Christ. The basic, fundamental steps cannot be overlooked if we intend to enjoy the final product of a mature faith. Our pride may want to build up high, but a solid foundation requires a disciplined approach of building down and out – anchoring down into God’s Word and out with a greater breadth of wisdom.
Spiritual maturity is a huge project that will take a lot of time and hard work. Read the instructions. Build into your foundation in Christ.
